Over the summer, the PassNPlay Project participated in the Youth Impact Challenge, and we are honoured to have received a grant offer of $1,000 which will used for our upcoming charity basketball tournament (more on this later)!

In September and October, the PassNPlay Project partnered with Keep Ups for a Kause, which was an initiative with the goal of providing children in Malawi with access to sports. We were proud to have contributed to this goal by collecting lots of donated soccer equipment at Upper Canada College over a two week period. The soccer equipment will be sent to Malawi with the help of another organization called Love a Village, which is a Canadian charity with the goal of breaking poverty cycles in Malawi communities.

In September and ongoing in November, our individual team members have also participated in school sports coaching programs in sports like basketball and hockey for grade 4-5 kids. This experiences gives us the perfect chance to bring sports to the next generation of kids, and we've thoroughly enjoyed seeing the joy in kids as they learn how to play new sports. We hope that one day, we are able to open our own sports coaching sessions.

We are also proud to announce a partnership with Youth Assisting Youth to provide sports sponsorship grants for those in need! Youth Assisting Youth is a non-profit in the Greater Toronto Area, and has been helping youth through mentoring and programs for almost 50 years. This partnership will create a system where families and kids who need to overcome financial barriers in sports have the chance to apply for micro-grants, which will be extremely impactful by allowing families to pay for sports equipment, sports program/team fees, and much more.

Lastly, we will be running a 1 vs 1 charity basketball tournament at Upper Canada College beginning on November 21, 2025. This basketball tournament consists of 12 student athletes at UCC, where they will compete in two teams of 6 for the final prize money of $1,000. Out of the total $1,000, 50 % ($500) will be directly donated as sports sponsorship grants for families in need, while the other 50% ($500) will be split amongst the winners. We are extremely excited for this tournament, and look out on our website and social medias for further updates!
